Summer 2010 - DIVINITY

This season OBI presents a collection of dramatic contrast through styling, colour and textureEchoing the strength of the New Zealand landscape, against vivid South Pacific skies new silhouettes shine with unexpected detail and sophisticated prints. Strong tropical colours against dark shadows, emulate theatrical colours so often found in our raw, land and seascapes. Shapes enhance a new slimmer silhouette yet still retain the traditional, Japanese design ethos of Obi. Key items feature the soft blazer, the Tank Dress and of course, the Obi Duster Coat continues.

Slim line skirts and structured jackets complete the refined OBI silhouette for the coming season of Summer 2010.

The collection opens with “The Last Time”, an exclusive print on a beautiful chiffon base, in black and white. The print resembles a whirlwind of branches blowing along an ocean beach.

Re-visiting the classic OBI “tricky” dress, with pleated detailing...these pieces work beautifully with the 2 x way stretch “Techno “and the divine “Two Bad” Japanese

 cotton / metal voile....work them together to create your own unique and edgy look. Sophisticated yet relaxed dressing.

Resort”......speaks for itself......fresh, summery items in the “Literature” silk / cotton voile, perfect for comfortable, stylish dressing in our hot climates.

The placement print, “The Grid”, inspired by the woven jacquard pattern in “Literature”, high-lights exquisite pieces made for long languid days...

 The Sarong Duster will be an essential in your wardrobe this summer.

Also in this group you will find soft tulle pieces (ideal for travelling) plus a wonderful natural linen stripe knit.....all in cooling shades of vintage white and sesame seed.

 

“Rippling Water” ... for the ultimate in casual day wear, this group introduces another exclusive print on a luxurious silk/cotton sateen base, plus, the very beautiful

silk / cotton voile, “Literature”...exclusive to High Society... look for the summer anorak in this superb fabric.!

The print is a painterly swirly design in romantic shades of ink and charcoal, with high-lights of white...imagine the reflection of a full moon on a midnight sea.

To complement the “Rippling Water” print, and the textured “Literature”, a placement screen print with a “hidden” O – B – I.....  provides a touch of mystery! ...

“Synchronise” is another exclusive print and once again on a dreamy chiffon base. This group heralds an influx of colour, bringing to life the traditional Obi palette of silver and charcoal. Another unique placement screen print, influenced by the New Zealand landscape, pulls together dramatic colour with unexpected soft styling.
